The project Development Objective is to provide access to electricity to households, institutio n and business in selected areas of Herat Province, Afghanistan. Project Description
Theproposed implementation will be in two phases and will improve electrification rates in Herat province, targeting about 230,800people who are currently without access to the electricity grid or have poor electricity access. The first stage will focus on cheshht, peopobai, Karrokh and Pashtun- Zarghoon districts. In the second stage, the project will extend grid electricity supply toother par f Herat province inclusive of off-grid renewable system. The project will also finance DABS in the procurement, projectmanagement a nd implementation capacity building requirements as well as assistance to the MEW in developing the legal andregulatory framework f or grid integration.
